I have a 2001 ZR2. Replaced my rear brakes and now need to get the air out. Can this be done by applying engine vacuum to the master cylinder through the use of a specially modified master cylinder cap with a vacuum hose attached? I tried this as an experiment to see if it would pull the fluid in through the rear caliper bleed screws. All I get is air bubbles coming up in to the master cylinder even though I had not opened the bleed screws and there's no fluid leaking anywhere. Why is this happening?

How long are you getting bubbles for? Are you sure there is not a leak on the caliper piston, and being burned off while driving?

I just got through doing the rear calipers and pads and rotors. Was trying to get the air out. The bubbles come up any time I put the vacuum to the master cylinder. Truck is still on the jacks. I don't see any brake fluid leaks. Also having trouble bleeding it with the one man vacuum brake bleeder I already had. That's doing it at the rear calipers bleed screws. I may have damaged my master cylinder. Idk. I don't see how there could be bubbles and no fluid leaking. Weird.

Hey I tried using a kitchen syringe to inject fluid through the bleed screws and that worked very well. Still don't know where those air bubbles were coming from in the master cylinder. But I got everything taken care of at any rate
