Burning fuel/Check Engine Light
I have a 2004 Blazer. Recently the check engine light came on and I'm noticing I'm burning a lot of fuel! I did have a new fuel pump and filter replaced a few months ago.
I'm assuming these 2 are related (SEL/Burning Fuel) Any ideas on what could be the cause?
Thanks for any help.
I do plan on bringing it in next week to have it the SEL checked out.

First step is to have the codes pulled and find out what they are. It could be any kind of things and you can easily spend thousands of dollars playing a guessing game chasing what could be a $25 sensor bad.
I will suggest checking the quick disconnect fuel fittings first. If whomever didn't have the correct tool or didn't use it right that could be your problem.

FYI: Turned out the SEL was concerning the temp of the coolant not reaching "computer satisfaction". I totally love that phrase! Had to have the thermostat replaced. Hoping that's all it was.
I was also told about having a tune-up done in about 15,000 miles. I have almost 86,000 miles on her now. That shall be costly as I'm not able to do it myself.

A tune should not be too costly even if you pay full retail,maybe $300;which in my opinion is twice what it should be as the parts only cost them maybe $100. Shop around and do not skimp on QUALITY replacement parts,buy the best you can afford!

Wow. I was told nearly $800. Besides plugs, and distributor cap...they quoted ignition rotor, ignition wires, and 3-step fuel and injector system cleaning.
I will shop around! Thank you.

Shop done will cost more than diy.
IMHO stay away from shop pushed fuel cleaners, they are often only scams. Unless they are gonna pull the injectors and put them in a cleaning machine all they do is flush the system with products you can buy at a parts store.
