A/C Clutch & Compressor
I have a 95 2dr. 4x4 blazer it has 165000 on it. Today it started to make some bad sounds.. I was driving home from work 25 miles. it was 100+ here today so I had my ac on. I turned it off about a mile from home. I heard a very loud sound and a whine comming from under the hood. I thought it was the power stearing pump. So when I got home I pulled it in to take a look. The pump was full. So I pulled the belt started it up no sound. So started turning pullies the only on that made and sound was the pullie on the Ac compressor. I put the belt back on and started it up with the ac on no sound with the ac off sound. Now for the help I need I was looking at autozone and they sell just the ac clutch and pullie. Has anyone ever change this item and how hard is it to change??

RE: A/C Clutch & Compressor
You need some special tools, Hub and Drive Plate Remover/Installer and then when you install the clutch plate and hub assembly ,you have to adjust the air gap between frictional surfaces of the clutch plate and clutch rotor measures within 0.50-0.76mm (0.020-0.030in).
Air tools are helpful.
You can probably do it on the engine if you have enough clearance. I haven't done any a/c work in about 10 years.
