catalytic converter
i have a 2000 blazer and after reading on here that a messed up catalytic converter could cause my blazer to stutter and miss i cut the front of the cat off. i could not get to the back of the cat however. so i just bent the cat out of the way. problem solved but now my truck is loud as hell. what is a cheap way to get my trucks exhaust back right?

To keep your truck legal, you will have to get a replacement cat welded in. Hopefully you didn't damage too much of the remaining piping when you bent the old cat down...
#3
Legal? depends on what state you live in. If youre registered in a state where you dont need an emmission test, youll be fine. You can cut the cat off and put on a strait piece of pipe. If you just leave the cat hanging but attached at the back, its hard to fix the loudness, your exaust has to be connected.

Just because they don't check doesn't make it legal...

Yeah, they don't check where I live but a buddy of mine got pulled over for his 5% tint and the cops also busted him for straight pipes.

Emission equipment on vehicles is Federal not State, but most States have laws that make it illegal to modify exhaust systems.

ok this removing the cat thing if your truck is 95 or newer it has 2 o2 sensors when you take the cat off the computer can not get the correct readings causing lack of power and poor fuel millage if that is what you really want go ahead make oil company richer
#8
They make terminated plugs for o2 sensors. If the o2s trip because you have cleared out the Cat, or removed it, alot of aftermarket stores carry some form of these plugs. If you just clear the honey comb out of the Cat and reattach it, you can pull off the o2s, and connect the plugs. Viola! No power problems, poor fuel milage, ticket for strait pipes, or clogged cat.

Per BlazerForum rule #10, we do not discuss removal of emissions equipment or work-arounds.
