Cermaic Brake Pads VS. Semi Metalic

What is the difference beside the obvious. The material they are made out of and price. Does the ceramic last longer? Are they quieter? Do they make the ceramic pads for drum brakes?

:icon_google: 'ceramic vs metallic brake'.

I did not google but ceramic are said to be quiet, less dust than other types, they tend to be long lasting and less abrasive to the rotors.

I found you have to push the brake pedal slightly harder with ceramics but they're dust free and don't fade as quickly when towing the boat. I've never heard of a drum version.

Ceramics are dust free and are better at handling heat. It really depends on the brand some people get loud one others get silent ceramic pads. They will grind through the rotors quicker which makes sense thats how they stop better.

I have an 01 blazer that from day one has always had very touchy brakes. The OEM ones lasted a pretty good while and i liked them. I replaced them with something a good while back and they were similar to OEM and they were good too. about 6 months ago i put wearever silver semi metallic pads and duralast rotors and the brake dust was horrible. After about two months of this horrible brake dust, i bought duralast gold series ceremic pads and love them. No dust, and brakes are not so grabby. They feel like they dont work quite as well as the OEMs, but that was perfect for me because i always thought they were way to grabby anyway. Now they are nice and smooth and seem to do fine pulling a decent load. I will probably buy them from now on for this truck.
