check gauges light comes on and humming noise aswell.

Hey everyone im new to blazer forums so lets see if someone can help me out. Iv got a 2001 chevy blazer v6. Iv had this vehical for quite awhile and iv with basic maintenece it has held up really well. Just recently the check gauges light comes on and will either stay on for awhile or it will go out and periodically come on again and sometimes flash. This is going along with a very hard to hear humming noise coming from around the area of the throttle body. if anyone has any ideas let me know thanks.

And are the gauges reading OK?

yea nothing unusual!!!

The flashing check engine light means the engine is misfiring badly enough that damage to the catalytic converter is possible. The humming noise could be a stuck Idle Air Controller motor or it could be you have good hearing and you can hear your injectors working. Find an auto parts store that'll read the codes out of the computer and report 'em.

Its not the check engine light, its the check gauges light. Iv had the car for almost 8 years and the humming is definetly new. Iv done all work on the car and even the DTC codes say that there is nothing stored in the pcm.

ive got a 97 blazer and mine hums when it adles and mine is the pcv valve.

Only 3 things are supposed to turn that light on, low oil pressure, engine temp over 248°, or 3 second bulb check when you turn the key on. If it was a bulb check you'd see other lights as well. Check the connections to your oil pressure sensor (top of the motor in back of the distributor) and engine temp sensor (driver side head about 3/4 of the way back by the exhaust manifold). Might be an intermittent fault that's too quick to show up on gauges but long enough to trip the instrument cluster to turn that light on. Or might be the dash cluster has got the flakiness.
