Codes and Black Smoke

My 1995 Blazer has been running fine after changing out the CPI, O2 Sensor, Cat, EGR, Plugs, Wires, rotor and dis cap.
It sat for 5 or 6 days until I cranked it up the other morning and let it warm up. When I went back outside black soot had built up on the ground by the exhaust and it was running rough. There were codes of course and they were P0113, P1133 and one time it threw a P0172.
I still does this whenever it sits and is idling. If I give it gas and jam it down the black smoke stops but if I get in line and sit it kicks back into the black smoking stuff in a few minutes. Gas mileage also has dropped back down. Should I replace (once again) the O2 sensor and also go back into the plenum to check out the CPI? I had problems at first with the new CPI until it unclogged itself on the #2 cylinder then it ran fine. Thanks for any help.

It sounds like a fuel injection problem I would go back and double check everything on the cpi unit!!

When you did the work on the CPI unit, did you replace the internal fuel lines, commonly referred to as the 'nut kit'? If not, I'm betting that they are leaking. These lines do not like to be disturbed after they have been in the engine for any appreciable length of time.

Sorry, I forgot to add the nut kit as one of the parts replaced. I got the kit from Linkenfelter or whatever it is. Once it warms up I will take the upper plenum off once again and see what is going on.

I opened it up today and found this....

The FPR side looks wet with puddles. Nut kit side looks fairly dry. Is the Lingenfelter fpr spitting gas? The air intake(??) tubes on the left look sooty which I didn't notice back when I replaced the injector a while back. Thanks

Can you tell where it is leaking from by pressurizing the fuel system? Maybe the o-ring on the FPR was damaged during installation...?

I haven't had anyone around to turn the key while I was looking at it but I put a paper towel under the fpr and turned the key 4 or 5 times making the pump turn on. The paper towel had a drip spot or two. They are sending me another FPR. My question is will my new nut kit make it through being unhooked and then reattached? I sure hope so.

If you wish, turn the key on(crank pos.) with battery unhooked, then while focusing at the problem area, hook up the negative battery cable. This has worked hundreds of times for me when nobody around! later jp ps the pump will pressurize the system and reveal issue(if there is one here).

not crank pos but just on-sorry for the mis-info! jp
