coolant capacity
hey guys i know this thread has been posted A LOT but i still dont know what is what, i have a 2000 chevy blazer v6 that needs a radiator flush, i know how to do the flush but i cant find how much coolant to add, i have atm 2 gallons of 50/50 anti freeze but i just need to know if thats enough for a complete flush or if i need more
|
2 gallons should be enough
my blazer said it needed 2 gallons of coolant. (50-50) how ever it didn't take 2 gallons. Mine only needed little over 1 gallon. That was after i started the engine and was pouring it in the radiator as needed and pouring it into the over flow container (i believe thats what it is called) Edit: and that is after i did a flush |
Yeah man if ur just draining the rad, 2 Gallons will be plenty
|
well to be completely honest, im one of those guys who doesnt want to just do part of it, i wanna do all of it, so i wanna get the reservoir flushed out too cause it has the red coolant in it still, so how much more would it need
|
the total capacity of the cooling system for a 4.3 litre v6 is 12.1 quarts (a little over 3 gallons) completley dry, so just a flush should be around 1.5 - 2 gallons.

it will take 7 qts when flushed completely. Basically the same as all the others have said. jp
