Coolant leaking out of overflow tube!?
My girlfriend has a 2002 blazer, and today we went for a ten minute ride. After the car was sitting a few minutes we went back outside and coolant was all over the ground. I noticed it was coming out of the overflow tube on the side of the coolant reservoir. At first I would run the truck, then turn it off and loosen the radiator cap to let the pressure out, and when I do that, coolant comes flowing out of the overflow tube. I let it run for 10-15 minutes and coolant would slowly drip out the tube as well. Any ideas guys? ..I was thinking maybe head gasket, but other than the coolant leak the truck is running fine....Thanks in advance!

Maybe a stuck thermostat, check/replace that and the radiator cap.

What did the temperature gauge read on the dash?

RE: Coolant leaking out of overflow tube!?
The truck has not overheated yet..the gauge stays at halfway once warmed up.

Sounds like air is getting introduced somehow...the overflow tube comes out of the radiator right where the cap is, so any pressure coming to the cap will also go out the overflow tube. Any white smoke in the exhaust?

i dont remember any odd smells. I do believe the lower intake gaskets are slightly leaking and plan on doing them soon, but would that cause this problem?

RE: Coolant leaking out of overflow tube!?
never mind, turns out that whoever had the truck before her switched the overflow vent tube on the top (that is suppose to vent to the ground in case of overflow) of the reservoir and put it to the radiator and put the overflow tube that was suppose to be attaached to the radiator and vented it out to the ground ...I thought something did not look right but never figured some dip$hit would do that...Luckily at work we had a GMC jimmy in and i happened to take a quick look at it..Glad it wasn't nothin major ..thanks for trying to help guys
