Distributor?
 
I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer. It has the check engine light on, so i went and checked it out. i think it was The cam shaft sensor, knock sensor, and also a
slipping transmission in the 4th gear showed up. Checked it out and saw that one spark plug wire was bare and not put on right, so i replaced all the plugs and the wires except for the #3 that is blocked by the stirring column (still trying to figure that one out), also noticed the last person to put spark plugs it in had the gap set to 75 when they supposed to be set at 60. So anyway the engine kinda skips if you know what i mean, so do you think that maybe it could be that one spark plug, or the distributor. also theres a screw on the cap that is stripped and in a tough spot so cant drill it out, Tachometer not working, and 4wd wont engage (when i push the buttons it does nothing). any ideas Thanks

I'd say address all the basics/ high failure on the 4.3l. The distributor is not a high failure item.

Here is a suggested list:
plugs (seems you already have done that except #3- Autozone and Advance auto sell the swivel spark plug removal tool)
Plug wires (already addressed)
Distributor cap (someone will chime in on a way to get screw out)
Rotor
Clean or replace MAF- very common for causing miss
EGR cleaning
PVC

Do the above and then evaluate how it is running. Good luck,

With the cam sensor gone bad, engine misfiring can occur.
The housing of the distributor is a phenolic/plastic material, and that is why the attachment screws strip. They're self-tapping.You may be able to get a slightly larger screw at a hardware store, but I wouldn't bet on it. I had a screw strip on my '97. I ended up getting a re-built unit at Autozone, and it had a stripped mounting hole too.
2 years later, the Cam position sensor failed. This time, I bought just the sensor and replaced it. If left in the engine, the sensor can be replaced, but it only comes out with the distributor in one certain position (TDC I think). You'll have to spin the engine until the dist. reaches that position - you'll see the opening in the mounting plate/cover.
I found it easier to mark the rotor location, then remove the distributor to replace the sensor. A 10mm bolt holds the dist. to the engine. Re-install the dist. to the same position as removed.

Well I wanted to check my distributor cap and rotor before I took it out that's why I wanted to get it out. So I just went ahead and bought a new dist. Cap and now I'm going to try to get it off one way or another then just replace it.
