Dome Light never comes on when doors opened
 

ok.. had my Jimmy a little over a year now and never really messed with it:Dbut my dome lights have never worked when i opened the doors.. any door.. i was wondering if it could be in the headlight/dome override switch on the dash or the push button switchs in the doors?? thanks for any replys

Since you mentioned the override switch on the dash does that mean you have messed with it? If it is pushed in the override is on, so make sure yours is pushed out and see if it works......

hopefully you have tried it just wanted to make sure though..

yeah tried that but when you shut the doors the light doesnt cut out until after the 20min thing GM put on these trucks to save your battery

I have the same symptoms in my 02. Are the dome lights set to come on when the doors are open when stock, or do they have to be reset in that manner?

So let me get things straight here. When the dome override is ON (in), no lights come on, but when it is OFF (out), the lights stay on for 20 minutes?

If the above statement is true, then you have a faulty door switch. I seem to remember typing up a lengthy post on door switch diagnosis a long while ago... Oh yeah, HERE IT IS!

mine is a 98 4door gmc jimmy.. but yes you are correct about the override button and all..
