Dome lights only work manually

Dome lights only work manually
hello everyone!
My grandfather's 98 Blazer LS has an aftermarket alarm system, installed by a local shop which is no longer in business.
The interior dome light does not come on automatically when the doors are opened. The only way to get them to come on is to use the manual override switch or by pushing in and holding the headlight switch. I am not sure, but is that a normal function of the headlight switch, or is that switch broken?
The alarm system senses the doors are open from the current draw in the dome light. Since the dome lights arent working like they should, the alarm automatically arms itself with the doors opened or when there are passengers inside the vehicle while the engine is not running
Any help is appeciated
Thank you,
Drimmie

IT SOUNDS LIKE A PROBLEM WITH THE SWITCH. I MAY HAVE ONE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BUY IT. ITS ABOUT 2 SCREWS ONCE YOU POP THE BEZEL OFF.
