DTCs and freeze frame data?

Still searching for the cause of my intermittent 5 code limp mode blues. (0740, 0753, 0758, 0785, 1860). My original post has now scrolled off page one and out of sight. My follow up reports and questions posted there seem to go unnoticed and unanswered.

Right now, I'd like to learn more about how, when, and by what criteria freeze frame data is stored. When the fault condition occurs five codes are stored but freeze frame data only shows only one code and the various vehicles conditions that existed when the fault occurred.

Can anyone explain what actually triggers the saving of freeze frame data? In the past, whenever the fault condition occurred and all five codes were stored it was always only 0758 that showed up in the freeze frame data. Today, after replacing the ignition switch, when the fault occurred, all five codes were again stored but it was the 0740 code that was saved with the freeze frame data.

I'm hoping that a better understanding of what actually triggers the freeze frame data and, in a situation when multiple DTC codes are saved, what determines which code appears in the freeze frame might help solve my continuing problem?

Can anyone help with this? BT

I guess not! Perhaps this is proprietary information; and not to be shared with others . Maybe I got off on the wrong foot or something... Or said something to tee someone off here but it may explain why, after joining this forum back in 2004, I came back again for another visit 11 years later.
