EGR, Clean or replace

I have a 95 s10 4.3 V6 Automatic 114000 miles.
I have been having a missfire at 2200 rpms or 65mph.
I ran the codes today and I got1406 also P0305 and P0172, I replaced the wires, plugs, cap and rotor last weekend, it runs much betterbut still have the missfire at 2200 rpms, I erased the codes today and will drive it 200 miles tomorrowthen retest, if the 1406 comes back should I replace the EGR or just clean it? Am I on the right track?

RE: EGR, Clean or replace

I would start by just cleaning it. See if that helps. If not, then you may have to replace the valve.

RE: EGR, Clean or replace

I Cleaned th EGR in my 88 Blazer and it made a good difference. I used a parts washer and a good toothbrush to clean out the carbon. Might as well try it.

RE: EGR, Clean or replace

I need some help, I go to check the codes today and there were none, I cleaned the EGR and it is still missing/ surgingat 22000 rpm or 65 mph.
I checked the vacume lines, didnt find any leaks.
I took off the Vortec cover and removed the valve and looked inside, both sides look about the same, dirty but not bad.
I am pretty sure the ICM is ok because heat doesnt seem to effect the problem. Its not any hotter than the enging after running for half hour?
I have plenty of power but when Icruise ay 70 mph its fine, at 60 its fine but at 65 it keeps surging or missing, I cant tell because im very hard of hearing, I cant tell if it is a fuel or a spark issue, idle issmooth and doesnt shake.
Im lost, is it the spider?
Can it be the FPR?
I will check the fuel pressure this week.
Any help please is vrey appreciated!
