1997 S10 Blazer. These are my error codes:P0740, P0753, P0758, P0785, P1860, P0306. I have had a "Check Engine" light for quite some time. Recently, the engine acted like it was stuck in 3rd gear. The problems come and go and in fact the "Check Engine" light go out periodically for about a day. Have changed spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor (hoping to get rid of P0306, #6 misfire). Major worry is the engine cuts out for a second and restarts while driving. I checked all of the connections on the ECM and they look to be OK. Perhaps the wiring or the ECM itself is bad? I am ready to replace the ECM, but don't want to be searching for a ghost. Additionally, when the engine does not shift,and it acts as though it is stuck in 3rd gear, I cannot get the key out of the ignition when I shut it down. If I pound on the key, I can get it to turn. But it will go to the ACC position really easy.
Like I said, I think that I need to replace the ECM, but I do not want to chase ghosts. Any thoughts?

 

As I wrote in response to Blazer Brenden(and your inquiry [sm=Flahssssss.gif]there too)-Ignition switch will solve your problem. I doubt it will help the misfire but who knows. It'll help all the other codes disappear and solve your shift issue. JP

 

Does the ignition switch module look like this? And is this what I need to replace?

To break down the codes...

P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit - See P0740 Explained
P0753 - Shift Solenoid A Electrical
P0758 - Shift Solenoid B Electrical
P0785 - Shift Timing Solenoid
P1860 - TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit
P0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected - See P0300 Explained

I wish I could post the other trouble code diagnostic sheets, but the forum problems persist and make it impossible to post long posts such as these. The good thing is that the diagnostic charts are very similar to that of the P0740 chart.

I would start by checking the CLSTR fuse in the instrument panel fuse box. If this fuse is blown, it can cause all of these codes to set.

I have seen where all of these codes were caused by a corroded inline connector at the transmission. That is where I would move to next (after checking the fuses).

If you have recently had your transmission serviced, then it is quite likely that during the pan drop, the wiring harness was damaged unintentionally by the person performing the work.

 

I did have my transmission serviced a few months back and they had a heck of a time removing the pan. I will look a the inline connector. Can you tell me where exactly it is located? I am assuming that this is where the wiring harness is also located.

 

I would pull the pan again and have a look at the wiring harness. Chances are they damaged the harness in the pan. So many times these places refuse to do the proper thing and remove the cross member.
