Front Brakes Dragging - 00 Blazer
Ready to pull my hair out!!!!
I have an 00 Blazer 4 door 4WD with 156K on it. The front brakes are dragging and I can't track down the issue. I put new pads and rotors on less than a year ago and just in the past couple of weeks the front brakes are starting to drag slightly. The drag is typically not enough to really notice while driving, but I drive 6 miles one way to work and in the afternoon on the way home you can smell the front brakes and the front wheels are not comfortable to leave your hands on. The problem seems to be worse in the afternoon than in the morning...not sure if it has to do with the ambient temperature adding heat to the situation or not... I have replaced both front rubber lines, both front calipers and all hardware and guide pins, and finally I just put a new master cylinder on it. Nothing I have done has made a difference. The fluid has been bled numerous times in the driveway. Brake pedal is firm and feels great... I do all my own maintenance, but I am about to give up and turn it over to a shop...don't want to, but I am not sure what else to try.:icon_shrug: Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |
check to see if the pads are excessivly worn i had the same prob with rears found o/side rear very thin made up a temporary spacer(it was a sunday no shops open) i also gently pulled the piston rubber dust cover open and squirted in some wd40 using the small tube till it had gone all the way round been ok ever since. seems to be rear brake probs in england ,my mates on his second s10 both had same as me

Thanks for the feedback. However, the pads are fairly new and still appear to be in good shape.
Still scratching my head on this one. |
