things always happen for a reason....at the most inconvenient time....still dropping the tank, and replacing the line in a spot where i cant even see really sucks........i have no choice but to get it going by next week........gotta get to work somehow, so much for a vacation/birthday holiday. would of loved to invest in upgrading my music, but fixing the line is a must to get to work and back..........thanks for the info guys, anyone who has had this situation before, PLEASE id love you to walk me through it (it'd be the best b-day present ever) thanks! -ryan-:icon_couchhide:

You should be able to access the fuel lines on the sending unit WITHOUT even lowering the tank. Drop your spare tire and crawl underneath the rear bumper. Make sure the lines are actually leaking. I would hate to see you replace a line that just needs an o-ring. Anyone there to help you? It would be in your best interest to actually see exactly where the leak is. Also they can man a fire extinguisher for you. (That isnt a joke. Dead serious)

I wouldnt use standard compression fittings. They make a repair kit for situations like this. it will be a platic line to steel line conversion.

thank you everyone!!! especially kristoph30! i do have access w/o dropping the tank. im still workin on it, want to get it done today, have back tire removed also for some more room. but which line is it on the sending unit? there is 3 lines, and are they connected to the frame or can i just pull line out?
i got 3 ft of rubber hose to put over the cracked line and 4 hose clamps 2 on each side.

i dont know about 2nd gens but there should be a bracket that holds them into place on the frame

I hope its the right kind of rubber, gas and some rubbers dont play well with one another.

Also you're dealing with high fuel pressure here, so regular rubber fuel line is not going to work.

Dont use regular rubber fuel line! Its only rated for about 10 or 15 psi.

The line closest to the center of the truck is the supply line.

Are you SURE the line is actually leaking? If its the "S" shaped line, its a shorty, just replace the whole thing.

as i said before
not sure of ur loacl state law on compresion fitting but... cut the line get a replacement at the parts store and use the comrpession fitting to tie it into the old line

or if u know how.. double flare the line when u cut it an get the replacement line and use a line union...

final update......it runsagain, just no better than before..... ran a whole new high pressure rubber fuel line from sending unit, to fuel filter, used old nut and 2 in of line, clamped it twice, and so far so good no leaks!!

still has no power, and sounds like a vaccum leak somewhere or somethin when floorin it
