A late reply, but I had the same problem too. While trying to figure out while my 02 blazer is running rich I replaced the fuel filter and it was rusted up terribly on the line nuts. It was easier to remove after taking the bracket off, haha. We actually twisted the entire filter instead of trying to twist at the nut, made it a whole lot easier.

 

Thats what heppened to me also,twisted it right off.

 

Believe it or not my girlfriends car never had the fuel filter changed in the 15 years of use. I couldn't believe she never had a problem. She still has the original AC Delco pump in her 94 Camaro too!

 

Must be luck then.
