Fuel Filter Tips?

Hi all:

I'm looking to replace my fuel filter tonight. Anybody have any tips? I planned on buying the AC Delco filter.....It's around $15. I've replaced them on farm tractors, but I haven't replaced one on this vehicle yet. Any tips would be helpful!

Thanks

If this is the first filter change, prepare for a fight (potentially). That little bugger is a real PITA to get out. The best advise I can give you is to absolutely get your hands on a set of good FLARE nut wrenches and use the proper size backup wrenches to hold the filter steady as you turn out the fittings from the filter. Hitting the threads with Rust Buster or PB Blaster or any other penetrating fluid will NOT be a bad thing. Let the stuff work for a while before you start.
Changing my filter (on a bought used '96) for the first time was almost the worst experience of my automotive repair career. But I finally got it out of there. Coat your new filter threads with never-Seize and the next time will be a pleasure. Good Luck.

Hey, thanks for the advice!

I changed it last night, and it wasn't too bad. I had a bucket ready and all the tools close by. (I knew what to expect when I took the Intake side nuts off) Everything came off pretty easy and reassembly wasn't bad either. I'll keep the never-Seize in mind.
