Fuel Gauge hanging
 

gotta 2001 4D 4x4. yesterday the fuel gauge was fine, i disconnected the neg battery terminal and replaced my coolant temp sensor. after putting everything together and filling up the coolant, i realized the needle to the fuel gauge is hanging almost straight down. got gas earlier in the day and everything was working fine. also replaced the fuel pump maybe two weeks ago. could something besides the fuel sending unit have caused it when i disconnected the battery or the sensor?

I have seen the needles mysteriously get loose. I have corrected this in the past by pulling the clear bezel off the cluster and putting the needle back on in the correct orientation with firm pressure. Helps when you have the tank full.

thanks man, not sure what the deal was, but i filled up with gas and it corrected itself. Thanks for the input though!
