Your gauge could be bad or you could have a bad wire between the sender and the PCM/BCM.

i already replaced the istrument panel and it does the same thing. how do i check for a bad wire.. do it do it just phisically or check resistance??? where is the ecm or pcm that you mentioned
so i found some more symptoms... if you turn off the car the needle goes to like 1/4 of gauge but ass soon as you start the car the needle goes up. |
I would check continuity to ground. I do not have access to the proper wiring diagrams at this very moment and likely will not get to them anytime today. Hopefully someone else has them handy...
