Fuel Leaking....just pi$$ed and ranting for now
As title says Have a fuel leak.
97 LS 4.3 Replaced the fuel pump 2 years ago, working fine Replaced the friggin tank about a year ago, doesn't seem to be leaking Now the wife says there is fuel leaking under the rear driver's side door. Only while running. This has to be a fuel line or the fuel filter no? I'm at work and haven't looked under it as of yet! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Couple questions..... Are these steel lines that can be cut, flared and patched or rigid plastic or combo of both? Do I need to drop the tank A G A I N or can they be patched/replaced with the tank in place? Of course dependant on the location of the problem If anyone else has had this, where did you get a new line or how did you repair? |
Take a deep breath, wait till you get home and see whats going on. I'ved used fuel rated hose with flared ends on the metal and have had no problems

Well......looking like I have fuel lines in my future #$#@#$#@@
Leak is on top of the frame, where the clip holds the 3 lines down. Can't tell if it's the pressure side, or return side guessing it's not the vapor line but all 3 feel pretty rough so I'm gunna change all 3. Suggestions welcome on where to look to buy lines, Already checked Rock and LinesToGo, pretty sure that RA sells form LTG |
The only place to get pre bent lines is a dealer. and the easiest way to run them is to loosen motor mounts and lift that side of the body, unless you already have a body lift installed

1997 Blazer Fuel Lines | 1999 Blazer Fuel Lines | 2005 Blazer Fuel Lines - LinesToGo
That's all 3 lines Rock carries a 2 line set |
Good deal
|
could you not run rubber lines rated for that psi and use line cutter tool to round it off?
just asking , assume not safe for whatever reason. |
You can use pre-bent lines, steel line and compression fittings, nylon lines and compression fittings, or fuel injection rated rubber lines and fuel injecton style hose clamps, (not worm gear style clamps).

Well the parts all arrived
New Tank straps, even though I understand there is no need to drop the tank to do this, they really need to be changed and I figure that will give me some extra room to work. and the new lines Too bad I leave for camp on Sat morning, so it looks like I'll be installing on the 4th |
That is a pretty good deal on the lines. Good luck with the install!
