95 blazer 4x4 4.3 vin W ive got the horizontal dizzy. ive changed the spider injector because it was leaking. when i installed i double checked everything to make sure their was no leaks. i even looked in their again and its good. when i do a fuel pressure test the gauge drops to zero as soon as pump kicks off? ive seen a article where a guy installed a check valve near fuel filter. can i do this since i cannot afford to replace the fuel pump? and would the fuel pressure being like it is now cause my blazer to surge will goin down the road?

anyone ever do this on their blazer or think it will work? and would my pressure being like it is now cause my blazer to surge going down the highway?

There is no proper substitute/ work-around for replacing a defective fuel pump. If it is in fact the cause of your problem, it will need to get replaced. The cost of a DELPHI fuel pump on Ebay is around $270. Note that the 2 door Blazer and 4 door Blazer typically run different fuel pumps.

so how would i know if it is the fuel pump itself? i hear it kick on and i get the full 60lbs when i turn it on but as soon as pump shuts off it drops to zero in like 1 sec maybe 2 seconds? so is it bleeding back into the tank? this is why i thought maybe using the check valve? does the fuel pump in tank have a built in check valve or something?

ok i just took off my fuel filter and the fuel was dark and had a bunch of what almost looked like really fine metal shavings? i blew thru it the other way and it took a little bit of pressure then poof a bunch of junk came out. i installed new one and have yet to test drive yet. hopefully it will help? on another note my fuel pressure still drops to zero as soon as pump quits. so is their a built in check valve on these pumps? and what would it hurt to just install one since my pump is working fine? also i notice that when we get to a 1/8th tank of gas it will run out?

just drove it and still acting the same?

any suggestions?

Likely the fuel pump of fuel pressure regulator. the fuel pump is going to fail sooner or later, so unless you have already replaced it with an updated fuel pump, often a good preventative step to replace it. The other thing that comes to mind is the fuel pressure regulator may be failing.

ive got a code that says my EGR is faulty. would the EGR cause my truck to surge?

please anyone? would my egr cause these problems as far as surging while driving? also what are the chances that my rubber hose on the fuel pump is bad or has a small hole? would that cause driving problems?

A sticking EGR valve can cause a surging and a hesitation, A member here on the forum who is also a personal friend has had that happen and each time its gets cleaned out problem goes away, her truck is a 95.

interesting? ok let me ask this? is their a way to test egr? ive pulled it off and there was no sticking at all. i went ahead and cleaned it anyway. ive still got the code for it thou even after clearing codes it came back. so im hoping maybe theres a way to test it or do u think its just bad?

I`m not sure about the testing of it.. When you said you disconnected the battery, what terminals did you take off? and for how long?
