Fuel Pressure reads 0 psi til engine cranks for 5 seconds

I have a 2000 Blazer 2dr LS 60k miles.

Recently developed hard starting issue. If I let starter run it won't start. If I crank over short burst, stop, then short burst again, it starts second or third time. I installed new fuel filter a month ago. Gas gauge doesn't work.

I hooked up fuel pressure gauge tonight, with ignition on but engine not started fuel pressure only hits 35psi then immediately drops to zero.

When cranking motor the psi stays flat for several seconds then jumps to 60 psi and engine runs. With the engine running gauge reads 54 psi.

I read thru the 96+ Fuel Diagnosis here: https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...tarting-58244/

I came to conclusion # 20, Replace pump.

Does this seem consistent with my fuel pressure readings?

I have a Delphi FG0072 Fuel Pump ordered from Amazon for $234 shipped. Should be here next week. Should I stop driving it because the motor is starting really hard? Got the Vstrom to ride in the mean time.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem with my Blazer. I was using the truck as my daily drive only thing that could happen is pump will stop working and you have to tow your truck. If i were you i would check the fuel pressure regulator. i had a problem with that too. good luck on your fix.
