fuel pressure regulator again ?

"95" s10blazer 4.3 vortex 229,000. miles... had fuel pressure regulator replaced 45,000. miles ago by mechanic $$$ ... lately been starting rough but runs good when going .... mechanic says i need fuel pressure regulator again ... can they go bad that soon ?

i'm pretty much mechanical myself ... is hard to do it yourself ? ... seems alot to remove to get to it & wondering if there's any sites that shows step by step?

its pretty simple to do..unscrew the 10 bolts that hold the upper plenum in place and remove the plugs from the sensors.they are all different plug ins and only go 1 way remove the 2 vacuum hoses from the rear of the intake and 1 from the front and remove the throttle linkage and set it to the side..the fuel injector spider assembly is under the upper plenum and the FPR is held in by a torx screw on the left side of the spider
