Fuel tank hose
 

Hey all.
Part of the way through my fuel pump replacement and I have run into a big problem. There is a rubber hose that attaches to the fuel tank and to the bottom of the fuel filler neck. I cut this hose when I tried to drop the tank :icon_doh: and need a replacement.
It is 2 different sizes, 1 1/4" on one end and 1" on the other end. It is about 6" long and looks just like a radiator hose. The dealership tells me I have to buy a kit for $300 for this little hose.
Where can I get a NEW hose for a good price? I want to make sure that it is designed for this purpose and can be used with gasoline. I really don't want to do this all over again, ever!

Are you talking about #9 here? Assuming a 4 door; they also show a parts diagram for a two door.

Looks like they don't have it available on gm parts direct. I ran into the same problem on my sis in laws chrysler minivan. Had to cut the dang thing to get the tank to drop. Until I could get one ordered from chrysler parts direct, I just got a regular radiator type hose from autozone that was the right size and shape.

That type of rubber won't stand up to gasoline very long, especially with the 10% ethanol, but it's not like it will just dissolve right away, either. It will get you back on the road, anyway. Just keep an eye on it, maybe check each time you fill up until you can get the right part.

I tried Rock Auto and they don't show it in the catalog.
I tried Napa, O'Reilly, Performance and AutoZone too but none of the can get it.

On the wide tank diagram the part is number 7. I have a 2 door ZR2. As you can see the part isn't listed.
I won't be able to use just any hose because it has a different diameter on each end. There is also not enough room to use a reducer of any kind.
I just can't believe that there isn't a rubber hose from the dealership that will work for this application

Any other ideas?

If it's only 1/4" difference, you should be able to just get one that's the larger diameter, and suck it down with the hose clamp tight enough to not leak. It's not the greatest idea, but if it's that or not driving it, I would give it a shot. Check in your driveway if it's "water tight" before driving it, of course.

Shouldn't be too difficult to find a 2nd gen 2 door in a boneyard.

i had to cut both hoses to get them off when i changed the fuel pump, i went to the auto wreckers and took one off carefully and was able to get it off without cutting or damaging it .
