Hard starting with a Engine Mgmt/misfire code
I don't remember what the code # was but he said it said something about "Engine Managment system/misfire" he said it was a generic code not specific.
My SES light is still on after replaceing the headgaskets, intake gaskets and all other topend gaskets that came with the headgasket set.
Also did a tune-up with a new Cap & Rotor, wires, plugs and PCV valve.
It is taking a long time to actually start. It will turn over and over and act like it's gonna start but doesn't catch. Then it will just stop doing anything for a min, like the battery is dead, then I try one more time and it takes a min but it fires right up. Once its started it runs great. But now I'm scared to turn it off incase it doesn't start up again.
What can I start looking for now?

Fuel pump is probably going down for the count. Check fuel pressure with key on, no start...should hit about 60 psi to start. Anything less and the pump is weakening.
Ran it a little more today and it does seem to have a misfire sometimes under acceleration. I never noticed it when it's idleing.
Also I hear a ticking noise like the PCV makes but it's sounds like its coming from around the dist. cap area. It goes up and down with the engine revs. I know its not the PCV cause I took it out and the sound was still there.

Give us that code number, OBDII has both generic and mfg specific codes, but the generic codes are just as important. So if you could list that code, that could very well be the whole problem, and could be an easy fix. Otherwise it is just guessing all the way
I don'tremember what it was.
I think it started with a 4 (like thats gonna help though)
And I'm not going in the direction of Autozone anytime that I know of this week either. I might be able to see if a neighbor has a scanner.(runs a garage)

You have to pull the distributor to get the intake manifold out to change the gasket. He stated the vehicle runs good , ONCE it starts so it most likely isn't a mis-aligned distributor as the vehicle would run like CRAP if it would run at all, if the distributor was off a tooth. I'll bet fuel pump trouble. The mis-fire could also be fuel related, with either bad fuel pressure regulator, clogged injector(s), faulty spider, etc.

Hope to get down there before the weekend so I could work on it on Sat and Sun
