Default heater bypass

Until I can fix my blend door I want to bypass the heater. Can I just put a shut-off valve on the heater hose coming off the water pump?

i would think it would be easier to just get a small length of hose and connect the in and out of the normal core line on the engine...loop one right into the other.

Just fixed my blend door today. Took out the control module, took it apart and the big gear was broken. Glued it back together with 5 min epoxy, put it all back together and was able to see it move when the ac was turned on. Hopefully this repair will last a while.
