Heater works only when driving

Hi Guys

I have an 2002 LS, the basic version.
With the manual heater/blower knobs.

The heater only warms the inside of the car when driving.
when standig still only cold air comes out the vents...

What could be wrong???

Do you have strong vacuum to the HVAC control module? How is the engine temp?

blazerpower 10-13-2010 11:21 PM

have you checked the coolant level?

rsterrn 10-16-2010 03:42 AM

thanks for the tips!
will check level today.

i have no idea what the HVAC control module is...
but if the level is ok, i will ask the dealer to look at that!

when was the last time you had the coolant flushed? and has your check engine light come on?

rsterrn 11-15-2010 08:53 AM

I never flushed coolant, the car has been dealer maintained, so i hope its been done by dealer schedule.

Engine light has never come on, only when ingition key is turned, but thats the 'test light' as far as i know.
