Default Help with my 95 Blazer

So we just got a Blazer because we are moving across the US to Michigan. We went to Jiffy Lube and got a Transmission flush, fuel injector cleaning, oil change, new fuel pump and air filter! While we were there the check engine light came on and gave us the code 301 which means the first cylinder is miss firing. So we left jiffy lube and fixed the distributer cap, rotor, wires and spark plugs. So the car is running great and we pull off the freeway to go load our uhaul and someone tells us our car is on fire.. Well come to find out Jiffy lube over filled out transmission and it spilled out all over our car and caused it to smoke a TON. Now when we turn the car on it runs super rough and has some clicking sounds. So Jiffy lube took it to a local mechanic and they are saying that the 5th cylinder is blown and that the spider fuel injector system is shot. They told us that we have to get it fixed and it's going to cost around 1000$. They told us that when they over filled the transmission it didn't cause any damage but the car is running so rough you cant tell if its shifting gears smoothly. I was wondering if the kind of fuel injector cleaning they do can screw up the spider injection system for our blazer?? I feel they truly messed up our car but they are telling us that the injector system just magically went out and they have nothing to do with that.

BTW the car was running great until all of this happened... (we are moving from Oregon to Michigan so it needs to be running it's best)

Interesting.

Spider thing is not that hard to get to, I changed my intake manifold gaskets in a couple hours and the injector assembly removal is only part way into that repair. That was 4 years ago for me though.

$1000 seems a little steep to me, but I do all my own work because I am able to and a cheap a$$.

They must be using dealer mark up and then jiffy lube mark up.....

At least they lubed you first, right....ha....sorry

Jiffy lube did a fuel pump? or did you mean fuel filter? I don`t trust them even to check air in my tires, let alone do anything to my truck..

I meant fuel filter. Sorry this has been super crazy. I feel they screwed us big time to but I wanna know for sure. We are looking at suing them. I just wanna make sure I'm not wasting my time. I dont know much about cars and I'm just learning so replacing my own is out of the picture. I have a mechanic who can do it but if it's on Jiffy Lube's dollar I'm having the chevy dealership do it.

Talking

We got some work done to the car and got all our flushes and filter's changed. We had a 301 code spit so we switched the cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Then our transmission was overfilled so the car started smoking heavily and we ended up having a SES light come on. So we make Jiffy lube(who originally did the flush... mind you we will never go back there again) take it to a mechanic and it says our 5th cylinder is miss firing. Well once it was diagnosed we took it to our own mechanic to find out what was actually going on.. (Jiffy lube only wanted to take it to Ken Van Damme's) Well come to find out the 5th and 3th wire was switched and was causing the miss fire. Well we got the car back and it was running a little rough so we took it for a spin to pump out all of the gas that wasn't broken down properly because of the miss fire. So 30 minutes or so goes by and we fill up the tank go about 100 blocks and the SES light comes on. So we take it back to the SOS who originally fixed it and they tell us the first cylinder is miss firing (301) We are leaving the car there over night and they will be replacing the spider injection system and possibly the fuel pump.

We checked the level of fuel pressure in the first cylinder and it goes up high enough but when you shut the car off the pressure is released fairly quickly. So would that be the fuel pump or injector? The spark plug was working properly cause we did check that. It was pretty dirty looking which is probably built up carbon?? (I'm learning a ton as I go so excuse me if this is confusing. This is all a learning experience to me.)

We are driving to Michigan from Oregon and need this Blazer to pull a 5X8 trailer. We want it to be in tip top shape and would love any suggestions to help us make it home!

On another note Jiffy lube over filled our Transmission and as we know of right now it seems to be alright. The fluid is already dark and smells burnt (flush happened last Sunday) so we are going to flush it again and see if it has any metal shavings in it. Do you recommend we do any thing more to it? What can happen if you over fill the transmission?? (No leaking, no broken seals to our knowledge after having a couple places look at it.)

Thanks for taking the time to read this and help us out!!

Misfire codes can be one of the most frustrating codes to deal with. Your code, P0301, means that the PCM is detecting a misfire in the #1 cylinder. If you haven't already done a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, & rotor) using quality AC Delco parts, you probably should look into doing that now.

Check out the OBD2 Index & Tech Article Index links in my signature below for further information about the P030x code and some hints on the #3 spark plug.

Thanks I appreciate the help. We did do a tune up already so we are hoping it's the spider injection system so the problem will be fixed

Like it was mentioned by Swartlkk, use AC/Delco parts when doing your tune-up. I chased a missfire for a whole year using aftermarket top brand parts, which turned out to be the problem!!!

I would not flush any transmission!! Pull the pan, clean it up and put in a new filter.
Pull both the cooler lines and blow them out. Refill to proper level while its warm.

Fuel pressure bleed off...Could be the regulator as well. I'd think youd be able to find a wet cylinder if you have an injector leaking.
