hose from air intake to manifold?

i got simple stuff done today like oil and tires rotated etc

anywho. i drove home, and smelled something burning but it wasnt too heavy...the hose that goes from the intake to im guessing the intake manifold wasnt on...like not a little...completely off..and i drove home about 10 miles with im guessing it being off. where does that hose go to is it the intake manifold, and is there a risk of the gasket inside being cracked (which i got done in the summer and aint paying for again)

any helps better than none

thank you

The hard black plastic line about 3/4" in diameter? It goes from the passenger side rocker arm cover to the air intake, between the throttle body and the Mass Air Flow sensor. It carries filtered air to the rocker arm cover for the PCV system. It appears to be connected on both ends. Sometimes the grommet in the rocker arm cover gets soft and doesn't hold the tube tight enough. Might be a dealer only part, not sure if the auto parts stores carry it.

im a noob, what exactly is the rocker arm cover? and it wasnt connected at the air intake when i found it, but hes done that so many times i know where it goes lol. does driving on it disconnected have any chance of putting any harm on any parts? because i left him a message saying it was left off again and i smelled something burning.

also so im sure, it doesnt go to the intake manifold at all? lol

Under the rocker arm cover are the rocker arms;) There are two of them for each cylinder. They are one of the parts involved in opening and closing the valves in the engine. The hose really needs to be connected. If left open, both ends can suck dirt into the engine...not good.

luckily for me it was only a 15 minute drive. but then again it probably only takes a minute. what would the burning smell be from? the rocker arms not getting enough air?

probably a little bit of oil was in the hose and it dripped down, got hot, then smoked off. not a big deal. make sure that the hose is connected and then drive it for a few days to see if you smell it again.
