How long would it take a pcm to
Ok i brought my dads 1997 s10 pickup for an emissions inspection and it failed
I hooked the truck up to a scan tool and it dosnt see the egr moniter and the oxygen heater moniter after i brought the truck home my dad forgot to tell me he cleared a code last week SO the pcm didnt see the sensors yet ? how long would it take it to see them ? :icon_shrug: I just drove the truck 75 miles the passed 2 days but still there incomplete |
You have to run through a full drive cycle. You could drive it 300 miles and you still may not have complete tests for those systems. Specific things need to happen for a successful drive cycle.
Google "GM Drive Cycle" and you should find more than enough information. |
thanks kyle

That's handy to know!

Wow..i didnt know that needed to be done. i figured clearing the computer, then driving it for 20 min was good enough for it to relearn.

hey guys Ive been doing more studying on drive cycles
and most of them say this NOTE: The ignition key must not be on prior to the cold start otherwise the heated oxygen sensor diagnostic may not run. I dont get it do i just turn the key to start it ? Like just crank it on 1st turn with out pausing ? |
