How to: oil change!
 

can anyone tell me how to 100% change my oil on my 2004 2wd blazer. what amounts to buy, and types and filter types, everything!! like a step by step? i cant find one :(

the 4.3 motor takes about 4 1/2 quarts of oil (5w-30) and you can find a filter at the local store, theyll look it up for you.

but first
1 pull the dipstick
2 get under the truck, find your oil pan and put a bucket or whatever to catch the oil and and unbolt the oil pan bolt carefully! careful not to lose it or mess the threads up
3 still under the truck find the oil filter and twist counter clockwise off. if you can get it with your hand use a oil fliter wrench, if you dont feel like buying one punch a screw driver through it completley carefully and twist, make sure to use a good screw driver. i bent my screw driver doing thing.
4 now that the oil is all out take your new filter and fill with oil to the top and let it alone for a little bit, it will get absorbed and take a dab of oil on your finger and spread aacross gasket. this makes it so the oil filter gasket seats well and so your not dry starting the truck without oil.
5 put your oil pan bolt back in and careful not to over tighten or cross thread
6 put the new oil filter on and then open up the cover under the hood where to put your oil (usually passenger side towards the top of the motor)
7 fill with oil and put your dipstick in (careful not to overfill)
8 check oil level make sure its right, start the truck and let it run for a little bit then check oil again.
9 if your oil level is all good go take it for a test drive and make sure its running right and the oil pressure is normal.
8 now have FUN!

where is the bolt i have to undo? i cant find it!!

It is on the backside and bottom of the oil pan.

When you remove your old filter make sure the gasket comes with it. I did that on my moms 86 Blazer and she left a trail of oil all the way to work. Which thankfully was only a half mile away.

so the oil pan is directly connected to the large side of the transmission? i see something like it with a bolt facing the drivers side, but it is bolted to the "front" of the tranny.

the oil pan is closest to the front and in my blazer its not directly under but its kind of on the corner, like the side of the pan and it faces towards the rear of the truck.

get under the driver tire from the side, if you look towards the front of the truck its the only bolt looking right at you
