Hubs 06 trailblazer

I recently helped my neighbor install new hubs on his 06 Trailblazer. After installing them we took it for a test drive and immediately the ABS light came on. He then took it to a Chevy dealer in Hamilton, NY and was told the sensor in the right wheel was faulty. He had a new sensor with him and asked the mechanic to install it. The guy told him the sensor was located "in the hub" and the entire hub would have to be returned where he had bought it and a new one sent out. Is this correct??? I thought the sensor was the plugin unit with the wire. Has anyone heard of this???
Thanks

I just took a look at an old hub from my old '04 Rainier. The sensor was bolted on.

It's been outside for close to 2 years now.

I ran through this on the hub on my Rainier as well. Even using a good brand, it took two hubs to get a good one. Both times the WSS readings were screwed up. I didn't bother with just the sensor since it was going to cost me more money and almost the same amount of time. If you have another sensor, you can try replacing just the sensor, but before you button it all back up again, put a multimeter across the pins on the connector and give the hub a spin. You should get >250mV-AC output.

A quick search on RockAuto.com shows the same PN for '03-'08.
