I'd start with checking out the hub assembly search for it there are tons of threads on diagnosing this to be certain before spending the money (they aren't cheap) HERE is one to get you started, let us know what you find and we will do our best to assist further.

Sounds like wheel hub bearing to me.

steven Dougherty 05-05-2011 09:19 AM

are they hard to replace or would it be better to have a garage do it?

Surgin 05-05-2011 09:23 AM

You can do it at home, use good parts or you will do it more than one time. Do both sides while you have the tools out.

Yupp just do it at home, I (because I'm broke) just did one side and used the hub they sell at autozone and it worked out fine for me. I ended up doing the other side like 6 months later though lol. If you can afford it do both.

Drive at highway speed for 20 mins or so then pull over & feel the front rims near the center. If 1 side is warmer/hotter than the other then there's a good chance it is the hub bearing assy. that needs replacement.
