Ignition Switch/Module?

My dash gages are powering on/off intermittently with no key in the ignition. It is like a turn signal frequency. The battery has run down. I am not sure how long this was happening other than maybe a day or two as this is not a daily driver. I have disconnected the battery ground wire for the time being. Any recommendations? This is on my 2000 GMC Jimmy 4DR 4WD (Diamond Edition)

Oh man, you got Gremlins....electrical ones. The best place to start is a wiring diagram, take note of everything that is turning on and off and figure out what circuit theyre all on and find where its power comes from.

I have a set of factory service manuals and I am leaning towards the ignition switch. I am going to charge the battery and see if it starts. With the key on it seemed to be normal except the battery has run down. With the key off there is something latching on unlatching with the key off. My accessory outlet was also powering on/off because my radar detector was on/off repeatedly. So I do not thing it is directly related to the dash other than power is cycling on/off with the key in the off position. With power on everything is powering up and than powering down.

All is well. Turns out the back glass was not latched and caused the battery to run down. Charged up the battery, started vehicle and everything is normal. No CEL light. I had just replaced the gas cap because I was getting fault codes intermittently from a faulty gas cap.
