In 95 they went to CSFI fuel system ( they also had CPI) so 95 is a mix. From 96 to 02 they only had CSFI system. As of 02, they went with MFI, and that is a superior design than the old poppet style of the CSFI. So, if you are replacing injectors, I would just get the conversion kit and install the MFI system.

For that price, you are better off going to rockauto.com ad getting a delphi MFI conversion. You will need a new bracket, or you can modify the old one. There is also a 5% discount floating around somewhere lol. With these trucks you always want to stick with delphi or delco.

My question would be how are they superior over the cpi? Both use a spider injector inside of the planem and have popet style injectors. When the spider goes bad they both cost $300-$500 brand new.

Well this becauuse the part mumber Fj10565 its a delphi spider with a regulator and it say that would fit to 2002 and up. Because its a new design and other stuff.

My other question ie.if i purchase this part number,it would fit to my 2001? Some people say that its a direct replacement with no modiffication.

Thanks

Guys I'm kind of confused here. My vehicle is '98 Blazer ZR2, 4.3L, Vin "W", 5-speed manual. I have been going thru all my RPOs on the firewall and in the glove box. As far as my engine goes the RPO is "L35" which checks out to be "Engine: 4.3L V6, CPI".

Is there any physical difference in the Vortec 4.3L engine itself (less intakes, top end, exhaust, etc), or the PCM that would have to be considered, regardless if you have a CPI, SCPI, MFI, etc? Re-flashing or anything required? Thanks.

1995 and older "W" engines are CMFI, (Central Multiport Fuel Injection) one batch fired injector, 6 "spider lines", with poppet valves in the ends.

1996 and newer "W" engines are CSFI, (Central Sequential Fuel Injection), 6 sequentially fired injectors in one housing, 6 "spider lines", with poppet valves in the ends.

2001 and newer "X" engines are SMFI, (Sequential Multiport Fuel Injection) Also known by several other names. 6 sequentially fired injectors located at the intake ports with no poppet valves.

All 1996 and newer "W" engines can be upgraded to the SMFI system. Plug & play, no PCM flashing necessary.

Delphi FJ10565 kit, (~$230) comes with the new bracket but you need to purchase the gasket set. Noticeably better performance than CSFI.
