intermittent hard start/ slightly rough idle HELP ?
Hey guys, I'm sure you've all heard/had similar issues as this, and would like some input from you.
I've got an 05 Blazer 2dr 4x4 with 210ooo kilometers
Its been having an intermittent hard start issue. It doesn't stall out, always starts but sometimes it will take 8-10 cranks to fire up, other times fires right up. Now I've been noticing worse gas mileage and general lack of "pep."
At the moment I've got the vehicle apart, to change the rad, waterpump, intake gasket upper and lower, and fuel pump. My question is this;
The spider injector module is the "updated" version because its the 05 model. Here in Vancouver, B.C a new spider injector modules costs a whopping $400 (Bluestreak FJ503). I here it is common for the spider injectors to fail, but is it common on the newer/"updated" blazers?
I had contamination in my coolant, causing my rad to blow. Considering my hard starts and general lack of power, and how common it is for the intake gasket to fail, I bit the bullet and started ripping the intake apart. Ive bought the metal back felpro kit.
I noticed the intake gasket may have been changed before, because I can see some RTV sealer all around the lower intake gasket...... Im kicking myself in the buttt because I know I should replace the spider injectors. Whats your guys opinion? should I put it all together with the old spider injectors? I Couldnt do a leak down test because I didnt have the correct tools and my blazer is immobile because of the blown rad. I feel like the fuel pump may be the culprit, not having enough pressure on startup.. and not the spider injectors.
Please feel free to give me some input if any of you have had similar issues
thanks a bunch,
-Lance
