Let's Discuss the Case Learn Procedure a Bit
 

Just trying to learn and understand......

As I understand it, the purpose of the case learn procedure is to allow the computer to judge small variations in the output of the crank sensor signal in order to detect misfires accurately? Nothing more?

So I assume the computer is storing crank sensor data during the learn procedure that it is going to use as "normal operation" in the future? And the procedure also probably makes the engine miss in order to calibrate on this?

If so it seems imperative that the engine be running well during this test, or future misses might be overlooked? Would it also follow that a crank learn is not likely to fix any performance problems that have not set a code?

Let's take a hypothetical situation (not my Blazer with the PO304)...... If there are no codes being set, the engine runs good, and you can verify the computer's ability to detect a miss - is there really any advantage or purpose in running the CASE learn procedure?
