Default Liftgate window won't lock when closed

Hello all!
Got my 2000 Chevy Blazer LS 2dr 4wd a few days ago, great rig, i love it.
However, when i bought it, i knew about an existing issue with the rear window not opening when pushing the button in both front and back. I figured out it was a disconnected actuator, so i got right to work on fixing it. I manually opened the rear hatch from the inside, took apart the gate panel correctly and reconnected the actuator lever that activates the window locking latch...but now the window will NOT lock when i close it. I watched the latch when closing it, and it goes into position correctly and the latch catches and closes, but won't lock into place like it should.
I didnt mess with any of that area when fixing the actuator, so i'm clueless as to why i'm having this issue....any help?

I have had a similar issue in my 99 LT for about a year. Difference is the button in the dash opens the rear window, but the button on the window doesn't open the window. Maybe this discussion will get me going to fix it.

I went to a pick n pull and got the correct part for my actuator, and after installing it, I noticed what my lock issue was: the lever for the window was bent upward, probably from when I pulled the panel off. It's the level that makes contact with the liftgate handle arm, the section where the gate pull bars meet. So I carefully bent it back into place and bingo, all fixed. Check that out, see if anything is bent or out of place. Hope this helps

Glad you got it fixed, and thank you for updating us on how you fixed it.
This could help someone with a similar issue down the road.

I fixed mine also tonight. Took the trim off the interior of the liftgate, removed 3 screws that hold the window latch to liftgate, unplugged and removed window latch, then unplugged and removed push button switch from door. Tested continuity on push button, nothing when button was pressed. Installed Wells brand Rear Window Release Switch
Part No SW3465. Works fine now. Thanks for starting some momentum.
