LIM rear "China wall" leak Repair without whole LIM job?
Hello, I already think the answer is "NO", but I'll ask anyway: In December I had a severe water in oil leak and performed the LIM gasket change. I thought it to be a success as no more water in oil; however, there has been an oil leak from the rear, which I am sure was there before the job, but now has gotten severe: It is now so bad that you can see my white smoke trail going down the Interstate as the oil hits the precat. An oily coating is all on the back of the Blazer. Not only am I loosing significant amounts of oil in a short time, I'm sure a fire hazard is present as well. I took the distributor out and felt around back and discovered 2/3rds of the rear gasket (Felpro Black RTV) was hanging out of the manifold! Shine a light in the rear and you can see it come through the gap as you peer down the distributor hole. Question: Can this be repaired without doing a full, manifold removed LIM job? Again, I suspect, and expect the answer to be No; however, I have found some spray on gasket products and wonder if they could 'fill the gap' Thanks!
