locker or limited slip
 

hey guys i have a question for you i am going to be buying a traction adder for the rear of my 98 chevy blazer now should i go with a limited slip or a locker. It is a daily driver, but i wanted someting better then open diffs. I would be driving in alot of snow and offroading alittle on the weekends nothing really major. I was looking at the detroit trutrac or the detroit locker really don't know what would be best for me do you guys have any ideas, and is there anything i can put in the front of my truck for added traction.

I would stay away from a limited slip if at all posible. Teh problem with limited slips is you have to slip before it starts to engage, and then the tire with no traction still gets most of the power and is doing like 30 while the other tire is barely moving.

Detroit Lokcer is better, hwoever it should be about 2 times the cost of the True Track. for you r application the ture trac should be a good choice.

I like the way an Aussie Locker works, however I am not certain if they make one for our trucks.
Options are limited for the front. I think there are two choices, and adding either is dangerous. The front chunk is aluminum, and when you lock up the fornt the tires wantto pull apart straining that chunk.

You can score a locker from the 'bay for probably $200 or so, and probably another $200 for someone to install it...

Limited slip is more for racing than it is for off-roading... My Blazer drifts wicked awesome from the LSD, but otherwise is almost the same as driving with open diffs for lower speeds...

Now if I could combine a locking diff with LSD capability, I'd be happy...
