Loud exhaust 2001 blazer

I cut out my cadalitic converter because it was plugged. I Put a pipe in place of converter. There is a new muffler on and it is pretty loud. Is this because I just have a pipe in place of converter? What can I do to quite the exhaust without breaking the bank. What about the resonater? Should i put a converter back on to help quite it? How can I trouble shoot this so I don't waste money? Any help is appreciated!

Well for one, removing your cat makes it a good bit louder. And depending on the muffler you have on there, that adds to how loud also. Say your stock muffler versus a flowmaster super 44 is like night and day. The super 44 is quite a bit louder. So to sum it up, taking a cat off will make the exhaust louder and also putting on a new muffler (less restrictive) will make it louder.

First start by replacing the cat to quiet it down.

Check the cat out that's about half way down the page. It's 66.85$. Do you think this less expensive cat would work?

You need to brake the soundwaves, you can think of the soundwaves as a solid arrow same size as the tube there carry the sound.

In duel installation you often see them go together in a X and then out to duel again, that breaks the soundwaves og make it more silent.

The cheapest way is to put in a conical tube inside your tube to braek the flow, small to front :

Here seen in a advanced mufler:
