Mounting my sub enclosure and GAS TANK question
Finally going to mount my sub box in my trunk, I have an 01 Jimmy 2dr w/ the spare in the trunk, so I settled on a MTX 4500 single 12" sub enclosure. It fits perfectly between the spare and the other wheel well. My only question is, if I use L-shaped brackets to bolt it into the trunk, with screws approx. 1/2" long, do I run the risk of puncturing the gas tank or anything else? Please note, it will be up against the back seats as close as possible.
Thanks, I would appreciate all input

RE: Mounting my sub enclosure, couple questions
i dont believe so, i think there is more space between the tank and the truck, but I will move this to a different section so maybe one of the techie guys can help.

I don't think you will either. i drilled a hole in the back under the back seats and there is a slant that goes straight down. You should be ok.

will do...it's supposed to rain tonight/tomorrow, so I'll most likely do it on Friday when I get done work. I'll follow up with some pics for sure. I'm hoping the 4500 hits hard

haha, yea, i'm leaving a few inches to shimmy teh spare out.
I got some #8 5/8" screws for the bottom part of the L-brackets, hopefully that's good enough to tap into the sheetmetal in the trunkand not hit the gas tank.I'm using my Profile 225x2 bridged to 1 channel to push it. Specs say it will push 480w when bridged, and its a 675w max power sub, so it should thump pretty nice.

RE: Mounting my sub enclosure and GAS TANK question
I just did the same install in a slightly different place. I used L brackets and screws and don't have any holes in my tank. I'm not sure that my box is actually over much of the tank but I had a look under there before I did it and it looked like there was clearence.
Can't see the brackets or anything!
