My Recently Purchased 2002 Blazer
 

So I just came into possession of a 2002.5 Blazer. The vehicle has only 23K miles on it. I purchased it from my grandfather who lived in little town arkansas, where he would only drive it from home to the post office and walmart. The average speed limit on the vehicle is probably around 40mph. To my knowledge none of the fluids with the exception of oil have ever been changed. I recently changed the air filter with a cheepy one, parents are getting me a K&N for xmas. Im scheduling an appointment with a local garage to power flush and fill the coolant because the Dexcool is 5 years overdue. Is there anything else I need to have changed or cleaned? Should I worry that having 10 year old dexcool in the blazer has hurt anything internally?

check and see that the 4x4 works.......

If it were me if change almost everything, you have your self a gem there, id change the ATF, and filter, the rear and front differentials if its 4x4, Good idea to get that old dex cool out. I wouldnt worry to much about it get the flush done, and maybe a new thermostat there cheap insurance.

Yeah, I tried that first before I purchased it. The 4-hi works, just fine Tinted and to my knowledge it was the second time that 4x4 had been engaged. I did not try the 4-lo, I'm not too worried about that though. Checked the hoses that I could get to, they have age but none of them are super brittle and all flex without cracking. The serpentine belt seems in good shape but I'm probably going to replace it with my brother when we do a tune up soon, plan on putting in some Delco double platinum plugs and switch it to Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic with a nice Bosch Distance Plus oversize filter. My brother is a diesel mechanic for the army so hopefully he can help me take care of flushing and filling the diff fluids ABSLT. Thanks for the quick responses guys.

The plugs in these are 100k mile plugs, not to turn you away its not a bad idea, but some of these newer chevys i have seen people put the fancy spark plugs in and have misfire problems, so they bring them to a shop to find out what's wrong and they put factory plugs in and all is well again.
edit maybe the delco ones wouldnt have that problem

I'm no expert in spark plugs or chevy vehicles, based off of what I have found on the forum any of the platinum plugs from AC Delco or NGK seem to work fine. The blazer has ran perfectly smooth so far on the stock plugs so I'll probably just leave it alone, I'm not looking forward to my first #3 plug experience anyway lol.

Yea no kidding my blazer just hit 95k so coming up soon but i may just wait till it gets a missfire fire code or start bucking on hills, cause they dont look like fun. That was a nice find you got there is always nice getting something with that low of milage

Yeah, the low mileage is nice. I've had it for two weeks and already love it.
