Default Need a diagnostic

i am wondering what could be the problem with my 01 blazer LT 4.3L

i can not get my truck to crank anytime. what i have to do to get it to start is that i have to put starting fluid into my intake manifold.

note* i am not mechanically intelligent

i have been told i have a blown head gasket and that theres not enough pressure in order for my truck to start

Does it stay running after you spray a little starter fluid in?

I would start by checking out the fuel system. Get a fuel pressure gauge and see what kind of pressure you are getting when you turn the key on. Your pump should come on for 2 seconds and give you 60-66 psi.
You can possibly diagnose a blown head gasket by seeing if you have coolant coming out your exhaust, but of course, it has to run for this to happen!
Are you getting any codes, a check engine light?
Also, check out

That is a sticky at the top of the 2nd Gen Tech section, lots of good advice in there.

I agree with mh86334's post. A failing fuel pump could cause those symptoms.
Another trick to try.....other than starting fluid, is to turn the key to run (not start) then off. Do this several times, then try starting. If it's a failing pump it will often build up enough pressure to start the vehicle (that's because the fuel pump will run for about 2 seconds when the key is turned to the run position then off) Worth a try to see what happens.

Let us know what you find out.

turning the key to run did not work. neither did the pumping of the pedal

Do you mean that your fuel pump didn't prime when you turned the key to on? Or does nothing happen at all?
The more details you can give us as to what is happening, the better we can help...
Try to be as descriptive as possible and we will get it figured out

it primed but that method did not work. last night i ran out of gas..but i did not think i did because im sure i had more gas than what was in there. this morning i go to start it with the starting fluid method and i heard the fuel pump make a funny noise. i have already replaced the fuel pump back in middle of 07. could this be it?

I would say its a bad fuel pump. Get a Delphi or AC Delco if you do decide to replace it. To be sure, though, before I spent the money on a new pump I would run through the diagnostic link I posted before. Or at a bare minimum, put a pressure gauge on it and see what you are getting. Nothing worse than replacing the pump to find out you have a bad fuel pressure regulator...
