Need help with front end clicking noise.
I have this loud clicking noise in time with tire rotation. The faster the tire is going the faster the click is going. It only happens in forward, does not happen while in reverse. Started as I was getting off the interstate.
It sounds like the noise is on the right side, out by the tire. Ihad my wife drive slowely while I listened to it from outside the truck. Even from sitting in the truck we both think it is on the right side, passengers side. I have replaced the hub assemble (had one on hand, the old one was showing signs of wear), and the cv shaft already. Still makes the same noise. Could it be in the front diff, even though that is on the drivers side? Could it be the caliper? Looking for any and all help. I am stumped. Thanks!!!!! By the way it is a '00 S10-Blazer 4.3/4L60E/4x4, and it does have ABS. |
RE: Need help with front end clicking noise.
I don't have an answer for you, just a question.
Have you tried putting it in 4WD and if you do does the sound change, dissapear or stay the same? |
RE: Need help with front end clicking noise.
Haven't tried that yet. Good idea, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
Half afraid to do that. Fearing that I have a problem in the front diff. I figure if the sounds goea away, that will be where the problem lies. Open to all suggestions. This one has me stumped at the moment. |
RE: Need help with front end clicking noise.
So, I see this is an old thread, but I just encountered the same problems as Har3. Started after getting off the freeway, sounded like a whirring sound. Disappeared the next day I drove it. Jacked it up, axles sound the same and sound fine. No rocking. Bring it back and park it. The next day, the guages start to go haywire. "Service Engine Soon" light comes on with no particular time span.
So, I take it out later, and the dash goes haywire again. Says no fuel with the "Low Fuel" light on (just gassed up 4 miles ago) and the battery light is on. Shortly there after, it starts making the clicking noise, this time louder. Really sounds bad. I think of the 4x4 button, and when I look at it, none of them are lite up. I press them, nothing happens. Temp/Trip/Mileage think is dashed out. It is like I have this clicking noise on top of an entire interior electrical malfunction. Engine runs find, minus the ticking when going forward. Did anybody ever figure out what this is? I am absolutely baffled and would appreciate any help! Somebody mentioned a vacuum actuator underneath the battery as to what the sound may be. I am going to check this out while disconnecting the battery for a while and trying to reset the computer. FYI, the instrument cluster panel was replaced I few years ago as per previous owners receipt. I have only had the vehicle for a few months. Thanks! |
