New ball joints fail after 50 miles

I bought 4 new ball joints from napa about 85 each. Not even 50 miles later 3 out of the 4 are bad. loos with play already. Napa is giving me my money back for labor and the ball joints. The question is what ball joints should i get now? Moog or ones from chevy. please help me on this one befor i buy them Thanks smitty

glad to hear that napa is sucking up the cost of the faulty parts. if you go through them again, you will be covered under Napa's 1 yr suspension parts warranty.

when i changed mine, i went with delcos BUT it was covered as part of an insurance settlement. if i was paying, i would have gone with the Napa/Cr Quest shelf brand :icon_shrug:

This is where I got mine, though you can now get the same stuff through SynergyOffroad. Been in there for about a year and a half with no problems, though I haven't really abused them.

has anyone ever used moog ball joints?

while i have not used thier ball joints, they carry a very good reputaion for their gear. if that is what you are eyeing, go for it. moog aint bad gear.

I have used Moog parts many times with no trouble. One exception is on the GM press in type ball joints every manufacturer I tried had ball joints that were a few thousands of an inch bigger diameter than the GM parts and I could not get them to press in with out a hydraulic press. The GM parts went right in every time. I am surprised that 3 of 4 NAPA parts failed. Did you grease them after you put them on? :icon_wink:

yes the shop that i had them done by did grease them. I have had them installed in my 2000 s10 xtreme b4 by the same shop and same ball joints from napa with no problems

I a have gotten quite a few bad parts new mostly wheel bearings, distribitors, and sensors. But my guess is if three out of four failed out the box, i would never buy that brand part again. Or they were stressed to hard on the install, or maybe not tight enough. I had good luck with oriellys masterpro parts in fact i bough all four little over a year and a half ago and they said moog right them(lucky). I beat the hell out of my truck gravel roads, dirt/mud roads, construction jobsites, and even corn fields. All four still solid.

Rock Auto carries parts for Blazer family, they have whats called a professional grade which I'm guessing are a heavier duty part. From the pics they look beefier as well. Just an idea.
