New Member - P0758 Shift Solenoid B Electrical error

Hi everybody,

I'm a new member here and this is my first post. I wish it could be a good story about my purchase but instead it is trying to help me fix a problem. I hope someone can help.

I bought a 2000 Chevy Blazer 4.3 automatic 4dr 4x4 recently and here is my problem.

The guy I bought it from advertised it as needing a shift solenoid. I took my scanner when I went to look at it and sure enough it had the P0758 error logged. Thinking it was an easy fix I bought the blazer and ordered the shift solenoids. I went to put them in and once I took the pan off I found he had tried to re-wire everything and what a mess it was!!!! I also then found out he had tried to rebuild the tranny. I called him to confirm.

Anyway, long story short. We purchased a known working 2000 chevy blazer 4L60E tranny and installed it. After the install we got the exact same error again! I then read many stories about the ignition switch being the problem so I installed one of those (nightmare!) and now.......we're getting the same error yet again!!!!!

I can reset the error using my scanner but we drive the Blazer just about 1/4 of a mile and it pops right back on. For that first 1/4 of a mile it shifts perfectly. After that, it goes to limp mode and is in 3rd gear.

Here's my question. Has anyone else experienced something like this? Will I need a new computer? Can it be a short in one of the wires to the tranny? What have you had to do to fix this error???

Thanks guys in advance and I don't want this thing to turn into a money pit before I get to enjoy it. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!!!! MUCH appreciated!!!

Here is the DTC diagnostic sheet:
P0758 - Shift Solenoid B Electrical

That should help in determining the cause of the problem.

This might help but there are some tools in here I do not have and terms I'm not familiar with. I have a scanner but I do not have the 20 pin jumper (J44152) connector to place on the trans plug for diagnostics. Were these instructions from a GM manual for their service techs?

Thanks for the info.
