obd I or obd II ???
im trying to read the codes from my blazer,,but not sure
if its obdI or obdII,,the door sticker says it is 05/95 so i would think its a 95 model.if not,is there a way to jump obdII and i have tried to read with a obdII scan tool it wont read it for some reason. any help very much appreciated,,,thank you.:icon_hyper: |
its ODB 1.5 .. its a one year only system they did when they did the switch to ODB II you need a scanner that can read both ODBI and ODBII to pull the codes

thanks biohazed,,,any good recomendations
on a not so expensive brand or model? :icon_playing: |
I've said it before and I'll say it again... Don't ya just love those 1995 model year GM computer systems?
|
I had one of those OBD 1.5 units in my Grand Am. Is your computer in the engine compartment or in the dash? If it's in the engine compartment then it's obdII. Best way to tell is to look on the radiator shroud. In the upper right corner there should be a box that says either OBDI or OBDII compliant. But the computer location is the best indicator.

lol Cage, not true .. mine is ODB 1.5 AND the computer is under the hood. But Actron makes a decent scanner that is ODBI and II compliant and won't brake the bank.

Everything I read the OBD1.5 computers were in the dash. Even kyle said the same. But they did some funky stuff with 1.5 so who knows. But my 95 GA was an OBD1.5 and the computer was in the dash like the OBD1.
My haynes book says the same. |
Picture is worth a thousand words! and mine is ODB 1.5

Are you sure it isn't OBDII?

nice pic of the comp biohazed,,mine isnt there, must be in the
dash.and thanks for the tip on the actron, was lookin at those and seemed that would have been one of my choices. reason im going to get this is im having probs, when my truck warms up it is dying on me,no certain amount of time but it could go a mile or two or it could go 8 or 10 miles and then it just dies out and wont start back up for a few minutes,,then when it does i have to rev it a little,,then it will run fine till the next time it dies. got me stumped,,,when i got this blazer i had to put a fuel pump,,,then a spider in it with new inlet fuel lines,,and seein i was shelling out so much money i figured i would do a tuneup, plugs, wires, cap.rotor,,and it still has some kind of mis and smell of unburned fuel,,also noticed a slight tap in the top end,not sure if that is whats causing the mis thou,,its a mess this truck,,,but i would at least like to stop the sudden dying in the middle of the highway crap,,,LOL.its dangerous. |
